At Western Plains Schools, we are building an art program that emphasizes the ability for EVERYONE to create and participate in artistic experiences. Whether your child is an experienced artist or is just beginning his or her journey in art, we have the tools to give them a high-quality education.
We offer art for students in kindergarten through high school, emphasizing fine motor and observation skills, and encouraging creativity and imagination.
During the first 9 weeks, high school students will develop an understanding of the Elements & Principles of Art & Design and will explore various techniques in two-dimensional design and drawing. The second 9 weeks will see students experimenting with wet media-painting using acrylics and watercolors, and exploring color theory. Ceramics will dominate the third 9 weeks, with students spending time on the two potter's wheels and learning the basics of sculpting and hand-building. During the fourth 9 weeks, students will be encouraged to explore a variety of media and ideas, and to produce an art show.
